Franken takes two Coulter quotes out of context, trying to make her look inconsistent. He begins:
And what really burns Coulter is that, in the fawning liberal media,
“Jim Jeffords’s degree from Yale cannot be cited often enough. (And consider that Jeffords got into Yale long before the terrorizing regime of the SATs, back when admission to

This is without a doubt Franken’s most famous incident.
In a column for Newsday on March 8, 2001, Robert Reno asserted:

Some people are under the false impression that Franken is just in it for laughs.
Lest we cut Franken any slack because he was a professional comedian, let us remember that he is mounting a bid for the United States Senate in 2008. No joke. Franken clearly wants us to take him seriously, and maybe we should.

What it translates to is the idea that “if” the media really has a liberal bias and the candidate is Republican then the media would want to hurt him or her with negative stories but “if” the media has a liberal bias and

After having hooked the reader with his inaccurate representation of the Pew study, Franken proceeds to reel the reader in with a few additional distortions.

Lines after attacking the right for taking Gore out of context, Franken crops an interview answer given by Bush in order to call the answer “a bold faced lie”, while ignoring more egregious of the same nature made by Clinton.
Franken writes:
Regarding Love Story, at no time during that controversy did Gore ever get arrested for

Al Franken loves to repeat this as a supposed example of Rush Limbaugh telling a lie. He probably still looks for opportunities to bring it up.
The following is from his interview with Geov Parrish:
GP: What do you think the differences are between you and Limbaugh?
AF: I’m glad you asked me that.

On page 61 (paperback, p. 65) of Lies Franken falsely claims Fox News Chairman and CEO Roger Ailes co-directed the infamous 1988 “Willie Horton attack” TV ad during the Bush-Quayle presidential campaign.
Ailes worked for the Bush camp in the election, but he had nothing to do with the ad; and neither

Franken asserts that Bill O’Reilly was wrong when he declared in a magazine interview that the liberal Los Angeles Times “never mentioned Juanita Broaddrick’s name, ever.” (Lies, p. 138 (paperback, p. 147))1 (Juanita Broaddrick is a woman who has claimed that Bill Clinton raped her in 1978.) However, in his effort to
